Traditional Cross Stitch Sampler Free Pattern
/Way back in February last year as part of my ‘their stories’ posts I shared this cross stitch sampler that I’d made as a gift for my mum back in 2002.
Back then I promised to share the pattern ‘in a few months’. Ops, How did that work out for you?
I’m so sorry, time and life just got away from me. But now I’m ready - whoop whoop! So here is the basic symbol chart pattern for this cross stitch design.
Traditional Sampler Cross Stitch Design
You can either right click on the picture above, copy and paste it onto a word doc to print yourself or click on the button below to download it from google docs (if you have a problem just let me know, I sometimes find there are a few teething problems with sharing Google docs)
If you prefer to work from a symbol chart I have a symbol and full colour version of this chart along with DMC thread colour suggestions and a full number chart available in my Etsy shop for a small cost.
The cross stitch I did was worked on a 28 count evenweave fabric over 2 threads and the finished design measures 24cm x 19.5cm (9.5” x 7.75”) A 14 count aida would be the same size. I didn’t need more than 1 skein of each colour of embroidery thread - I used DMC threads.
You can see that I’ve changed the year on the chart to be this year, rather than the 2002 that I stitched the original in. You can easily make it any year you’d like.
Download a simple free version of the chart / Buy the full version with symbol chart, colour suggestions etc for a small cost in my Etsy shop.
Happy stitching!
Julie
