A little tribute to Pearl - part 7
/Sum of their Stories started as a place to share my in built enthusiasm for all things craft. I also wanted to share some of the craft skills that I’d been shown and taught by my Mum and Grandmas when I was growing up.
Each year on their birthdays I share something creative that they made as a little tribute to them. You can see all the previous tributes here.
30th November was my nan, Pearl’s birthday. Last year I thought I had run out of things that she had made to share with you and showed an embroidery stitch that she’d taught me instead.
But this year I’m back with something she made, whoop whoop! This is all thanks to my cousin Helen. Last time we met up she brought a couple of dolls with her that my nan had made for her. She was Helen’s nan too of course!
My very first tribute to Pearl was way back in 2013 and I showed you photos of a rag doll that nan had made for me when I was little.
Well it turns out I wasn’t the only one, my cousin got one too! And here she is in all her glory!
My nan definitely had a certain style of face that she liked to embroider. Look at the pretty embroidery on her bonnet too.
I’m sure she’ll forgive me for lifting her skirt to show you her pretty petticoats and bloomers.
So today, I’m remembering Pearl, my sewing, embroidery, knitting and sewing loving grandma. We are so happy to still have these dolls that you so lovingly made for us, so much work went into them and every stitch is appreciated.
