A little tribute to Jenny 2025

7th February was my Mum, Jenny's birthday, so as usual I'm sharing something today that she made.

This photo is our daughter back in 1995 when she was about 7 or 8 months old wearing a lovely little cardigan than my mum had knitted for her. Wasn’t she adorable? I know I’m biased of course! I’m kicking myself because I know I had the pattern for this cardigan for years but now I want it to show you I can’t find it anywhere! I’m pretty sure it was from a magazine, probably Prima which was my mum’s favourite. All I can think is that I lent it to someone or it’s tucked in the front of a book somewhere. If it turns up I’ll up date here with a photo.

My mum encouraged me to enjoy all kinds of crafts but her favourites were knitting and sewing, she especially liked knitting for babies and toddlers so all of her grandchildren were blessed with lovely cosy knitwear.

Each 7th February I share something my Mum made, you can see the previous ones here along with the explanation for the blog name, Sum of their Stories. Digging through all my old knitting patterns looking for this one has made my fingers itch to knit again. I mostly tend to crochet these days but I do love the soothingness of knitting. I might even get one of mum’s old baby pattern books out and make something for the next new baby to be born in our circle of friends and family.

So today I’m remembering my mum and the lovely things she knitted for us all over the years.
