/Christmas can be a busy old time can’t it? If you are anything like me then from mid September you pin a multitude of fabulous DIY decoration ideas, gorgeous handmade gifts, beautiful gift wrap ideas etc. Then once December hits it’s all shopping and carol concerts and making mince pies and Christmas drinks after work and before you know it you are frantically trying to finish a hand knitted gift at 11pm on Christmas eve!
A completely handmade Christmas is probably unachievable for most of us but how about festive projects that you can sew from start to finish in under an hour? Sounds good eh?
I’ve joined a group of talented bloggers to bring 8 fun and easy sewing projects that you can wizz up in no time. Most are suitable for beginners too and need a minimum of materials.

First up, my contribution is these little reusable gift bags. Made from small pieces of fabric they are a great stash buster. They are big enough for a small gift and small enough to hang on the tree filled with chocolate coins or candy canes.
Anna from Sew and a Sewing Machine shows us how to make this gorgeous deer embroidery hoop decoration. I love this applique onto net technique.
Damjana from Apple Green Cottage has a brilliantly simple way to make festive coasters with a patchwork effect.
Lisa from Cucicucicoo has turned an old felted jumper into these lovely snowflake embroidered ornaments. They’d be perfect to hang on the tree, in a garland or even to add to gifts as gift tags.
Crafty Staci has a lovely tree ornament idea, another great fabric stash buster. Oh so pretty!
Lulu and Celeste have a lovely hand sewing project, this sweet felt Christmas tree to hang on your Christmas tree!
Vicky from Vicky Myers Creations has a tutorial to make a wonderful Christmas pudding embroidery hoop decoration. If you don’t have Christmas pudding where you are in the world then you are missing out! It’s a super rich, fruit packed, alcohol laced steamed pudding that we only ever have at Christmas. Yum!
Vicky’s version is much lower in calories though!
Phase out paper gift wrap and replace it with reusable fabric gift bags that can be used year after year. These are especially quick and easy to make.
Last but by no means least is this lovely Christmas tree ornament from Easy Sewing for Beginners. It is a fabulous way to use up even the teeny tiniest fabric scraps.
So there you have it, 8 lovely Christmas projects that you can sew in under an hour.
Ready, steady, sew!!
