Here’s a super quick idea for a Valentine Card that doesn’t need any special card making or papercraft equipment at all.

Every year I try to share a Valentine card idea, and this year I’ve been inspired by some beautiful rock and pebble painting that I saw online. It was one of those pins that went nowhere on Pinterest, I’ve had a bit of a search around but I can’t find the source. Cute though eh?

To make a card like this all you need is:

A blank card and envelope
A small scrap of patterned paper - this can be scrapbook paper, wrapping paper, or even a pretty image from an old magazine or junk mail
Colouring pens - again, nothing fancy, just the kids colouring pens is fine, I had a few colours, including one that is metallic green and one gold pen
Paper glue - I use Pritt stick glue but any glue for paper is perfect

Start by cutting a heart shape from your patterned paper. You can do this freehand or make a template from a piece of scrap paper than you folded in half to cut a nice even heart shape.

Glue the patterned heart to the centre of the card blank.

Now just draw dots!

Start with a line of dots all around the heart. If you do one centre top and bottom first it’s easier to keep them even.

Add a second line of dots, alternating the colours.

Add spikes of dots radiating out, evenly spaced.

If you can, make the dots along the spikes start bigger and get a little smaller as they radiate out.

Choose a different colour and add more spikes in between the ones you have already done.

Fill in gaps with more dots, add dots on top of dots with a white pen or outline dots with a black fineliner pen. Whatever takes your fancy really. I added a line of small black dots on the pattern paper heart and gave some of the biggest dots a little swirl. Experient, see what you like the look of.
