We went to the panto on Friday. Oh no you didn’t! Oh yes we did! Everyone in the UK knows what pantomine is but for those elsewhere who might not understand, let me explain. Pantomime is a completely bonkers Christmas play for families. They are put on in virtually every town and city in the UK, anywhere that has a theatre, and are loosely based on a fairy tale or old story (Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladin, Dick Whittington, Peter Pan etc) There are certain elements that all pantos will include: songs, dancing, some sort of scene when an adult member of the audience is taken on stage and gunked, an audience sing-a-long, a Pantomime Dame (a man dressed as a woman but in VERY over the top joke type costumes) a good fairy, an evil villain who is booed every time they appear, the principal boy character always played by a girl, a compère who also has a part in the play - usually the dame’s son, a few slightly risqué jokes for the adults that go over the kids heads and lots of kids from local dance schools as the ensemble cast. But more than anything else there is LOTS of audience participation and LOTS of very silly jokes. None of it really makes any sense but it’s a lot of fun.

A like on social media, a comment or share is an easy way for us all to help to support one another so please do take a moment to visit some of the other projects linked up this week. It’s not mandatory to be able to join in here, there’s no easy way to check if you did but it costs nothing but a few minutes of your time and is just a nice thing to do!

The rules for Handmade Monday are very simple:

  • Did you make it? Yes - then yay! We'd love to see it

  • Add the link to a specific post, not your main blog url

  • You can link up to 3 posts each week but try to make sure it's not something that you've shared here before

  • Mingle - visit some other links - comment - share - be social

HANDMADE MONDAY IS NOT A PLACE FOR SELLING SO NO LINKS TO ETSY OR OTHER SELLING PAGES, THEY WILL ALWAYS BE REMOVED. THANKS

If you are not sure of anything more details can be found here.

At Handmade Monday the links are shown in a random order so it’ll look different each time you pop by.
